TechArt MAGNUM: Another way
To look at... or drive the Cayenne Turbo

Magnum: a completely different way to look at Porsche's Cayenne...

If you're getting used to the sight of the Porsche Cayenne, at least in some streets, or you're finding it a bit more familiar than you wish, you can be sure of at least three things.

One is that others like it too, not just you. Two, Porsche is not upset at all, since this familiar face is still very far from causing any real risk of brand image dilution. Three, and this is the most important here, you can do something about it.

Yes, you can get your Cayenne less familiar, technically as well as visually, from a renown tuner, especially when it comes to Porsche: TechArt Automobildesign.

... and to drive its 600 hp engine with the lowered suspension.

You already know that the Cayenne Turbo is a performance, if not the performance SUV, with its 450 hp V8 Turbo engine.

Now, how about another definition of the "High Performance SUV", with 600 hp (442 kW) and 865 Nm (instead of the original 620 Nm), 292 km/h V/max (instead of 266 km/h), with the appropriate suspension and design modifications?

Rather than "just" Cayenne Turbo, you can call it now the MAGNUM twin-turbo V8, launched by TechArt Automobildesign at the 2005 IAA Frankfurt motor show last month.

The TechArt engine department developed this extremely powerful version, called the TechArt TA 048/T3 performance kit, with two larger turbochargers, a high performance intercooler, the TechArt sport exhaust system as well as a redesigned intake manifold and a new sport air filter.

Electronically, the new tuned engine version gets its specific programmed Motronic engine management system.

Exclusive cockpit accessories with leather interior options.

The resulting twin-turbo V8 storms from rest to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds, on its way to a top speed of 292 km/h. And yes, we're still talking about an SUV. Just in case.

The power kit is complemented with the fully stainless-steel TechArt sport exhaust system. Cayenne owners can choose to combine the rear muffler with the stock tailpipes of the car or with four chrome-plated TechArt tailpipes.

The body modifications add eight centimeters to the width of the Zuffenhausen SUV, not just for esthetic reasons, but to make room too for the king-size 10Jx22 one-piece TechArt Formula light-alloy wheels all around.

The ContiSportContact II tires, in 295/30 ZR 22 size on front and rear axles, are approved on the Cayenne for speeds up 300 km/h.

The TechArt MAGNUM front apron changes the Cayenne look strikingly with large air inlets, two fog lamps and two high beams, while its refined shape reduces lift on the front axle at high speeds.

Side sills form a harmonious transition between front and rear fender flares, leading to the Magnum's rear apron featuring custom cutouts for the two intertwined oval-shaped tailpipes of the stainless-steel TechArt sport exhaust system, with an integrated diffuser to help reduce lift on the rear axle.

The Cayenne body design is further refined with TechArt' new headlight moldings, a three-piece tail lamp molding and a rear panel that carries the shape of the rear apron over to the tailgate.

The new hood features air outlets for improved venting of hot air from the engine bay, thus contributing to a thermally healthy engine.

Under the body panels come the extensive suspension modifications of the widened Cayenne. For vehicles equipped with air suspension, the TechArt sport module can lower the ride height of the SUV for on-road operations by up to 60 millimeter. For tough off-road use the ride height can be increased by up to 70 millimeters.

Inside, TechArt Automobildesign can also refine the Cayenne interior in countless ways. The options for the Porsche Cayenne range from exclusive cockpit accessories to the completion of the leather interior available ex-factory to an entirely new individual TechArt fully leather interior. Also available is a stylishly integrated state-of-the-art multimedia system.
